Summary:The study on mechanism and control technique of karst groundwater system pollution by oil is still on a tentative stage in China. The advantages, disadvantages and economic technologic conditions are concluded on the basis of the advanced experience of other counties, and a control scheme for karst groundwater pollution by oil is proposed according to the experience obtained in the period of the Eighth Five Year Plan. The scheme includes two parts: controlling pollutant source and manage the remnant oil in vadose zone and aquifer. In order to obtain good result physico-chemical treatment, biotransformation and hydraulic control technology should be used in a comprehensive way.
